The Girl Who Gets The Flu in Spring 4/14/2014

Heyyyyyyyy! Remember how last week I had bronchitis and I wasn't feelin very well and we stayed inside for a couple days so I didn't have much to write about??? Well. This week is going to sound VERY familiar to you.

Good news: I got over bronchitis!

We had district meeting in Richland Center like always. We had Taco Bell with the Elders before and it was great. We pretty much did accountability for two hours. haha.

Then we saw the Steibers! We had a lesson at a park and it was so good and so fun! They are really strong and they know that this is the path they need to take, but their kids aren't exactly thrilled about it and they don't want to force them into religion but they also want it to be a family decision. So we had a really awesome talk about the Book of Mormon and how awesome the stories inside of it are. We talked about Alma and the sons of Mosiah and how they were best friends and didn't see each other for 4 years and randomly met in the middle of nowhere and they were STILL righteous and all on missions. We talked about Nephi and Lehi and how the prison walls crashed onto all the "bad guys". We are really trying to get the kids excited about the Book of Mormon so that they can really feel the Spirit and feel better about switching churches. We are also trying to explain that its normal for kids to not want to go to church, I mean come on, how many times did we all fake sick or throw a fit cause we didn't want to go? They really want their baptism to be a family thing and so we are trying to get them there but also trying to get the parents to see that if they get baptized first, their kids will follow and then Marc can baptize all of his kids. How much more family centered can that get? So. Lotsssss of progress. Still need some time there.

Then we went on exchanges! I got to go to Madison again FINALLLLLY. It was so fun. I love Madison.  I got to see my friend John Smith who I taught waaaaaaay back six months ago on exchanges when he was investigator and NOW hes a recent convert and he remembered me! I love John Smith, he's the awesomest old black guy ever. We had a super crazy awesome lesson where he was talking about his friend didn't believe in god but believed in spirits and he wanted to know how to help him recieve the gospel and then he was on Alma 18 in his reading. WHAAAAAAA? no coincidences. Crazy!

Bad news: We also taught a family that had just gotten over the flu. And so the day after when I'm all nice and settled in my apartment and all of the sudden I feel DISGUSTING and create a barf bucket, my thoughts first turn to the reeeeeaaallly rare hamburger I had to eat at dinner the night before. And then when I get at high fever and chills and body aches I remember exchanges and I go, "awwwwww man!" and then I was sick in bed with the legit flu for the rest of the week. Like. We didn't even go to church yesterday because there was no way I could have handled that prettily. BUT. Gods power is real and thankfully the priesthood has been restored and I got a blessing and I feel much better now. Yay!(:

The Lafaves aren't going to make their baptismal date because they didn't stop smoking :/ But I know that I did my best and gave them everything they needed to stop and that I can't control agency. They will get baptized. Very soon probably. And I will be transferred and I will be sad, but that's okay because I know I gave it my best and I know God knows I gave it my best. So. Its a happy story because their baptism will be even sweeter now that they have had to work SO hard to overcome addiction.

So. That's literally all of the events of this week. Oh wait. I DID go out on a limb and was really bold with Derald and straight up asked him why he isn't going to marry anita and made him talk about feelings and promise to pray about it. So. That was AWESOME. They are going to get married and then she is going to be baptized and everyone will cry tears of joy. Cause that's what goes on here in the mission field.

Lataaaaa(:
